    Local roundup: Jordan, Palmer earn milestone Speedbowl wins

    Waterford — Tim Jordan and Jason Palmer earned milestone victories as the New London-Waterford Speedobowl on Saturday night.

    Jordan earned the 40th victory of his career when he captured a special 60-lap SK Modified feature. Jordan took the lead with 46 laps remaining and never trailed again in winning his 13th race in that division. Ryan Morgan finished second and Todd Owen third.

    Palmer, meanwhile, captured the 30-lap Late Model feature for his 95th career win at the Speedbowl, moving past Bob Potter and into four place on the all-time wins list.

    In other feature races, defending champion Shawn Gaedeke won the 25-lap Street Stock feature, Brody Monahan made it four straight wins in the 25-lap Trucks race and Chris Garside won the 25-lap Mini Stocks feature.

    FCBL

    • Austin Bohlman (Marist) broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run double in the sixth as the Norwich Sea Unicorns beat the Nashua Silver Knights 4-2 in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Chris Jenkins (Endicott), the second of four pitchers, got the win for Norwich (16-11) by allowing only one hit over four innings. Nashua is 7-21.

    NECBL

    • Bradyen Clark (Salve Regina) pitched seven shutout innings as the North Shore Navigators defeated the Mystics Schooners 3-0 in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game at Dodd Stadium. JT Navyac (Cal St. Fullerton) had the only two hits of the night for the Schooners (9-6). North Shore is 6-10.

    District 10 LL softball (10-12)

    • Stonington defeated Waterford 7-5 on Friday night as winning pitcher Ainslie Zagol had five strikeouts in a complete-game effort and also had a double, triple, two runs and one RBI. Waterford pitcher Aubrie Willis had nine strikeouts and also had two hits.

    District 10 LL baseball (10-12)

    • Waterford beat East Lyme 3-2 on Friday night as A.J. Stefano ended the game with an RBI single in the ninth to score Reily Karasevicz, who finished with three hits and two RBI. Pitchers Christian O’Connor, Michael Valentino and Karasevicz combined for 13 strikeouts while Greyson Briggs had eight strikeouts in 5.1 innings for East Lyme.

    District 10 LL baseball (8-10)

    • Ledyard defeated Groton 20-9 on Saturday night as Carter Pope had three hits, including two doubles, with three RBI while pitching two innings and striking out six. Ryan Sharpe added three hits and three RBI for Ledyard while Levi Taggart had three hits and Nolan Russell and Elias Minzy each had RBI doubles. Cameron Sykes had a two-run triple for Groton and Wyett Boykin added two hits.

    • East Lyme defeated Waterford 3-2 on Saturday night as Flinn Paradiso, Nico Russo and Kashton Kaczor scored runs during a three-run fourth. Owen Fox had two hits and Dean Skovinski a double for Waterford.

    District 10 softball (8-10)

    • Ledyard defeated Montville 12-11 on Saturday night as pitchers Olivia Potter and Myla Luna cominbed for seven strikeouts. After Montville rallied from a 10-3 deficit to eventually tied the game at 11-11, Avery Robertson scored the winning run on a passed ball.

    • Waterford defeated East Lyme/Salem 6-1 on Saturday night as Kiki Kane pitched her second complete game win of the tournament. Gianna Vargas had two hits, including a triple, for Waterford.
