    Local roundup: Conn College tops ECSU in women’s basketball

    Willimantic — Connecticut College picked up its first win of the season, beating Eastern Connecticut State 80-42 in a nonleague women’s basketball game on Sunday.

    The Camels (1-4) shot a season-high 54 percent from the field and outscored the Warriors (2-3) in every quarter. Conn never trailed in the game and led by double digits after just six minutes, building the margin to as many as 38 by the fourth quarter.

    Hallie O’Toole scored 16 points, Rebecca Oberman-Levine had 13 points, six rebounds and five steals and Addi Hunter and Catie Donadio had 10 points each for Conn. Taylor Salato led ECSU with 12 points and Waterford’s Julia Knowles had five rebounds.

    Men’s basketball

    • David Murray scored 19 points and had nine rebounds as Conn College beat Eastern Connecticut State 72-55. Cam Schainfeld had 16 points and four steals, Elias Espinosa and RJ Casey scored 12 points each and Ben Rice had nine rebounds for the Camels (4-1). Dominick Dao and Ty Calloway scored 14 points each for ECSU (1-5).

    Women’s hockey

    • Sydney Cresta and Serena Seiple had a goal and an assist each as Conn College beat Manhattanville 4-2. Kate Hagness and Claire Sammons had goals, Alana Burm had two assists and Casey Chesner and Kiley Smith had assists for the Camels (2-1-1).

    Men’s hockey

    • Albertus Magnus beat Conn College 4-2. Michael DiMascolo and Quinn Kennedy scored goals for the Camels (0-3) and Kareem Alazem had two assists. Cole Eichler and Pete Stanger also had assists for the Camels. Will McEvoy made 38 saves for Conn his his first game. Caden Pattison and Zane Kindrachuk had a goal and an assist each for Albertus (5-3).
