    Local roundup: Sabb, Robinson lead Fitch past Windham

    Willimantic — Malakhi Sabb scored 21 points as Fitch beat Windham 91-58 in a boys’ basketball game on Friday.

    JJ Robinson had 19 points, five steals and five assists, Calvin Sebastian had 13 points, seven assists and eight rebounds, Zander Timmerman scored 16 and Jacob Francis had 10 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for the Falcons (2-0). Anthony Green led Windham with 16 points.

    In other games:

    • Devan Williams and SaVahn Warren each scored three points in overtime as New London beat Woodstock Academy 47-45. Williams finished with a game-high 18 points and Warren scored nine for the Whalers (3-1). New London led 38-27 after three quarters but was outscored 14-3 in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Hunter Larson led Woodstock (2-2) with 13 points.

    Girls’ basketball

    • NFA beat Fitch 57-38 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I game. Nevaeh Yorke had 19 points and eight rebounds and Jordyn Bay-Kent scored 16 for NFA (3-2, 2-1). Dre’Ana Singleton had 19 points for the Falcons (2-3, 1-1).

    • New London beat East Lyme 60-27 in an ECC Division I game. Serenity Lancaster and Nyarah Dudley scored 14 points each for the Whalers (3-0, 2-0) and Juju Guarraia led East Lyme (0-5, 0-3) with eight points. Jaidelis Rivera had seven rebounds, eight assists and four steals, Kyani Allgood had seven rebounds, Italia Salls had three steals, Lancaster had 10 rebounds and three blocks and Dudley had five steals for New London.

    • Laura Farquhar scored a game-high 21 point as Killingly beat Waterford 51-39 in an ECC Division II game. Lucy Walker had 18 points and 10 rebounds, Jennie Macca Barnes had seven points and 15 rebounds and Audrey Steward had seven points and four rebounds for the Lancers (0-4, 0-3).

    • Bacon Academy beat Ledyard 40-33 in an ECC Division II game. The Bobcats are 3-1, 2-0. Cierra Bravar had 17 points, four steals and seven rebounds for Ledyard (2-2, 2-1).

    • Ava Roth had nine points, nine rebounds, seven steals and three assists in Old Lyme’s 25-23 win over Westbrook in overtime in a Shoreline Conference game on Thursday. Old Lyme (4-0, 3-0) outscored Westbrook 2-0 in overtime. Sybil Neary had eight points and seven rebounds in the win and Olivia Kelly had 16 rebounds.

    College honors

    • UConn’s Ashlynn Shade was named the Big East Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. The guard averaged 21 points, 3.5 assists and a .680 shooting percentage in a 2-0 week for the Huskies. She had 22 points, four assists and one steal in Monday’s win over Butler. She followed that with 20 points, three assists and 80-percent shooting at Toronto Metropolitan on Wednesday.
