    Local roundup: Coast Guard women roll to victory

    Troy, N.Y. — Mackenzie Hilden came off the bench to score 12 points and had 10 rebounds as Coast Guard beat Russell Sage 72-42 in a nonleague women’s basketball game on Sunday.

    Glory Blethen had nine points, and 11 rebounds, Kelly Hagerty had 10 points and five rebounds, Julia Mann had eight points and seven rebounds and Kira Wood and Taylor Lynch scored 11 each for the Bears (9-2), who have won four straight.

    Allison Coleman, the former Griswold High and Eastern Connecticut State standout, is in her 10th season as the head coach at Russell Sage (2-9). Coleman

    • North Branford scored the last three goals of the game to rally for a 6-5 win over the Eastern CT Eagles on Saturday. Wade Larson of East Lyme and Ethan Lovetere of Bacon each scored twice for the Eagles (1-3-1). NFA’s Tyler Field made 41 saves, Waterford’s Kaden Casteel scored a goal, Nick Rembish of St. Bernard had two assists and Stonington’s Wyatt Verbridge had an assist for the Eagles.
