    High school roundup: A grand time for New London’s Lancaster as she reaches 1,000

    New London — Serenity Lancaster scored 19 points, including the 1,000th of her career, and added 10 rebounds and eight blocked shots to lead the New London High School girls’ basketball team past Bacon Academy 52-46 Friday night.

    New London (8-4) led 49-24 after three quarters before Bacon narrowed the margin by outscoring the Whalers 22-3 in the fourth quarter, holding New London to just three free throws by freshman Jaidelis Rivera.

    Rivera, Nyarah Dudley and Ky-Ani Allgood each had eight points and six rebounds for New London. Rivera added five assists and five steals, while Dudley had four steals.

    Skyelyn Schoen-Rene and Katelyn Novak had 14 points each for Bacon (6-5).

    In other games:

    • Rory Risley had 21 points and 15 rebounds in Stonington’s 61-27 victory over Griswold in ECC Division III. Katelyn Cadmus finished with 14 points and Leah DePerry 12 points and six steals for Stonington (5-5, 3-1), which led 32-15 at halftime. Abby Matheson had nine rebounds for Griswold (2-9, 0-5).

    • Morgyn Perkins had 13 points and Hayden Bresnan 11 for Wheeler in a 40-35 victory over Putnam in ECC Division IV. Lily Goyette scored 17 points for Putnam. Wheeler is 2-8 overall, 2-3 in the division.

    • Jada Cheung scored 17 points in Montville’s 45-25 loss to Plainfield in ECC Division III. Morgan Yonush had 19 points for Plainfield. Montville is 7-5 overall, 1-4 in the ECC.

    • Ava Roth had 14 points, seven rebounds and seven steals in Old Lyme’s 54-34 loss to Morgan. Sybil Neary added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Old Lyme (5-6) and Kanon Oharu eight points and seven rebounds.

    H.S. boys’ basketball

    • Mikey Timpano finished with 17 points in East Lyme’s 50-48 victory over Woodstock Academy. Jaylen Hannans added 12 points and two steals in the win for the Vikings (8-3).

    • Troy Johnson scored all 11 points in the second half as Bacon Academy led from start to finish in a 48-38 win over Lyman Memorial. Theo Koutsofavas and Jace King also had 11 points each for the Bobcats (3-7). Jordan Chandler had 17 points for Lyman (2-9), including three 3-point field goals.

    • Charis Johnson had 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists to lift Grasso Tech to a 68-57 win against Vinal Tech. Jerry Santiago chipped in 13 points, five assists and seven steals for Grasso (5-5).

    • Keith Zardies scored 20 points and Kyle Kessler added 12 in Wheeler’s 57-50 loss to Killingly. Killingly, led by 19 points and 10 rebounds from Johnny Kazantzis, held a 38-36 edge after three quarters before pulling away. Wheeler is 7-3.

    • Colman Curtiss-Reardon had 11 points for Old Lyme in a 49-34 loss to Morgan. Patrick O’Neil had 14 points for Morgan. Old Lyme is 7-4.

    • Robby Shay scored 10 points in Williams School’s 53-36 loss to Wooster. Jadiel Thomas and Lance Jastremski each contributed eight points for the Blues (3-5).

    • Griswold beat Tourtellotte 66-59 on Thursday night. Carmelo Curtis had 17 points, KinKade Rubino scored 15 with nine assists, Kaiden Kazlauskas scored 13 and had 10 rebounds and Kolby Mills had 12 points for the Wolverines (6-4). Josh Carlson had 32 points for Tourtellotte (5-5).

    Gymnastics

    • Capri Sferrazza won the all-around competition with 35.3 points as the East Lyme co-op finished with 133.95 points to defeat Old Lyme. Sylvi Otter was second all-around (33.5) and Olivia Gionet third (33.2) for the Vikings (4-1). Sferrazza (St. Bernard) won the uneven bars (8.4), balance beam (9.3) and floor (8.9), while Otter (East Lyme) finished first in vault (8.8).
