    Local roundup: Coast Guard men connect for 12 3s in 82-76 win over Clark

    New London — Mitch Shettles finished with 22 points and five rebounds in an 82-76 victory for the Coast Guard Academy men’s basketball team against Clark on Wednesday night.

    Luke Farrell and Elijah Parent each added 13 points and Farrell, Cameron Brown and Declan Rooney had nine rebounds each for the Bears (12-8 overall, 5-6 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference), who led 44-34 at halftime.

    Coast Guard made 12 3-point field goals, four by Shettles.

    Clark is 15-6, 9-3.

    H.S. wrestling

    • Waterford edged Ledyard 42-38 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II match, getting pins from Kian Gordy (120 pounds), Lucas Gannotti (150), CJ Carmody (157), Devon Powers (165), Zachary Ruest (190), Samuel Vasquez (215) and Braden Sollima (285). Talon Vanase (106), Tatianna Irizarry (113), Joseph Crader (126), Ryan Taggart (144) and Braxton Swanbeck (175) earned pins for Ledyard (12-9, 1-3) and Collin Rhodes (132) and Noah Jones (138) had major decisions. Waterford is 13-9, 1-3.

    • Josh Cuevas (120 pounds), Edward Lavoie (132), Dylan Vanegas (157) and Zaire Wallace (190) earned pins for Norwich Free Academy in a 72-12 victory over Bacon Academy. Carson Brown (165) and Dante Colella (175) won by pinfall for Bacon (6-20). NFA is 21-5.

    • Lyman/Windham Tech defeated Montville 64-15 in ECC Division III. Michael Saintil (106 pounds), Calvin Sammarco (113), Hunter Sanchez (126), Lucas Judd (132), Oliver Gatti (138), David Bean (150), Zachary Rebello (215) and Timothy Breault (285) recorded pins for Lyman (19-3, 3-0) and James Hiltz (165) earned a major decision. James Linder (144) and Luke Chapman (157) had pins for Montville (8-20, 2-2).

    • Dylan Beebe won by decision at 215 pounds in Fitch’s 60-21 loss to Windham. Fitch is 5-19. Stonington’s Cooper Light pinned Windham’s Louis Paulino in 4:22 in a 175-pound match.

    H.S. boys’ basketball

    • Daniel Hess had 16 points, three rebounds and two blocked shots in Norwich Tech’s 54-49 loss to Old Saybrook. Connor McRae added 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals and Collin Schulze 10 points and four rebounds for the Warriors (4-9). Old Saybrook led 17-8 after one quarter.

    • Jared Russo made a 3-pointer at the buzzer as Lyman Memorial beat Montville 59-57 on Tuesday night. Lyman led by 12 after three quarters but the Wolves rallied and took a 57-56 lead on a layup by Jace Kobyluck with 12 seconds left.

    Dominic Pontbriant and Kevin Botticello scored 15 points each and Jordan Chandler scored 14 for Lyman (3-11). Kobyluck had a game-high 24 points and Ben Godburn scored 14 for Montville (4-11).

    H.S. girls’ basketball

    • Gabby Dimock scored 15 points as Fitch beat NFA 42-34 in an ECC Division I game on Tuesday night. Meleeya Robbins had 10 points and four steals and Synaa Waters had eight points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Falcons (10-7, 4-2). Jordyn Bay-Kent had 10 points and 12 rebounds and Emily Orcutt scored 10 for NFA (10-6, 4-3).

    • Serenity Lancaster had 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists as New London beat East Lyme 73-20 in an ECC Division I game on Tuesday. Nyarah Dudley had 16 points and five steals, Jaidelis Rivera had 14 points and seven assists, Marlana Childs had nine points and eight rebounds and Kymiyah Willis had four steals for the Whalers (11-4, 5-1). East Lyme is 1-16, 0-8.

    Women’s hockey

    • Connecticut College beat Nichols 6-0 in a nonleague game on Tuesday night. Alana Burm had two goals and an assist, Abby Munger had a goal and an assist and Kylie McCarthy had two assists for the Camels (7-8-5).

    Men’s hockey

    • Conn College fell to Assumption 3-2 in a nonleague game on Tuesday night. Cole Eichler and Quinn Kennedy had goals and Kei Yasuda and John Russo had assists for the Camels (7-9-2).
