    Local roundup: Norwich Tech boys’ basketball team qualifies for the postseason

    Norwich —The Norwich Tech boys’ basketball team won its regular-season finale, beating Windham Tech 84-68 in a Connecticut Technical Conference game on Tuesday night.

    The win gets the Warriors (8-12) into both the CTC and CIAC tournaments.

    Daniel Hess had 32 points (7-for-9 on 3 pointers), 16 rebounds and 16 assists and Connor McRae had 31 points (5-for-8 on 3 pointers), six rebounds and five assists and Collin Schultze had 13 points, seven assists and five steals for Norwich Tech.

    In other games:

    • Williams School lost to Wooster 58-37 in the first round of the Housatonic Valley Athletic League tournament. Jadiel Thomas had 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Henry Champagne had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Blues (4-14).

    H.S. boys’ swimming

    • The Fitch co-op closed out its dual meet season with a 93-77 win over Xavier. William O’Donnell, Gabriel Pacheco and Sterling Welsh won two events each for the Falcons (7-3).

    O’Donnell won the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.11) and 500 freestyle (5:18.87), Pacheco won the 200 IM (2:11.88) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.47) and Welsh won the 50 freestyle (23.29) and 100 freestyle (52.88). Fitch’s Evan Hespeler won the 100 butterfly (59.74).

    Men’s basketball

    • No. 4 Babson ended Coast Guard’s season with an 87-76 win in the quarterfinals of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference tournament. Mitch Shettles led No. 5 Coast Guard with 30 points, six rebounds and four assists. Declan Rooney scored 14 for the Bears (15-11).
