H.S. lacrosse roundup: Jenkins leads NFA boys past Waterford
Norwich — The Norwich Free Academy boys’ lacrosse team opened its season Saturday with a 12-4 win over Waterford in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I game.
Logan Jenkins led NFA (1-0, 1-0) with six goals and Luke Wotring made 17 saves. Johan Deon and Griffin Neal had two goals apiece for the Lancers (0-1, 0-1).
In other games:
• East Lyme opened its season with a 19-2 win over Woodstock Academy in an ECC Division I game. Jack Campbell scored seven times and Drew Sager had five goals for the Vikings (1-0).
• Tyler Simao scored six goals as Stonington defeated Montville, 18-8. Ethan Mahoney scored five times and athan Mahoney had two goals and three assists for the Bears (1-0). Chris Baukus scored four goals for the Wolves (0-1).
• Roman Rich scored six times and Tate Gordon had five goals as Fitch defeated Hamden, 17-3. Boden Frost had eight assists for the Falcons (1-0).
• Norwich Tech/Windham Tech beat Ledyard/Griswold 7-1. Landon Traylor, Josh Lodyko and Wess Drowne had goals each for Norwich Tech. Lucas Wannamaker scored for Ledyard.
Girls
• Enfield defeated New London, 16-8. Malahika Paulo had five goals for the Whalers (0-1) and Norma Salemack Oxsema had 16 saves.
• Shay Burnside scored four goals as Stonington defeated Ledyard, 10-6. Zoe Flynn scored three times for the Bears (1-0). Helena Robinson, Maddie McLeod and Tatianna Irizarry scored two goals apiece for Ledyard (0-1).
• Katie Jamroga scored four goals and Madison LaForte and Sadie Tiven each added three more as Waterford defeated Bacon Academy, 15-1. Quinn Brigham had four assists for Waterford (1-0). Lanie McIlduff scored for Bacon.
• Fitch defeated Hamden, 13-5. Gabby Dimock had five goals and Beth Lovering scored four for the Falcons (1-0).
• Killingly defeated Griswold/Norwich Tech 15-7. Sienna Caron and Neiara Myrick had three goals apiece for Griswold/Norwich Tech (0-1).
