Local college roundup: Mitchell stays perfect in GNAC baseball
New London — Montville’s Chas Terni went 4-for-4 in the second game Saturday, helping Mitchell College sweep a doubleheader from Albertus Magnus in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
Mitchell won the first game 11-8 and and the second game 22-2. The Mariners are 16-6, 6-0.
In other games:
• Coast Guard swept Clark in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference doubleheader, 12-4 and 16-8. Nathan Stafford had four hits in the first game and three in the second for the Bears.
Softball
• Coast Guard and Babson split a doubleheader in NEWMAC. The Bears won the first game 4-3 and lost the second 4-1. Julia Breidenthal had two hits in the first game for the Bears.
Women’s lacrosse
• Abby McAlister scored five goals and Coast Guard defeated Smith, 15-10, in NEWMAC. Sarah Skurat had two goals and three assists for the Bears (7-3, 2-2).
• No. 13 Williams earned an 11-6 win over Connecticut College in a NESCAC game at Silfen Field. Aine Downey connected with Suzie Smith to five Conn (5-4, 1-4) an early lead.
Men’s lacrosse
• No. 20 Williams scored 12 goals in the second quarter and defeated Connecticut College, 24-8 in NESCAC. Lorenzo Vogliano (New York, N.Y.) scored three times for the Camels (2-5, 0-5).
