    Local roundup: Old Lyme wraps up Shoreline girls’ tennis title

    Old Lyme — The undefeated Old Lyme High School girls’ tennis team clinched the Shoreline Conference regular-season title with a 7-0 win over Cromwell on Wednesday.

    The Wildcats improved to 10-0 overall and in the conference.

    Elaina Morosky, Katherine Zhang, Emma Arelt and Rose Dimmock all won their singles matches in straight sets.

    The duos of Aggie and Beatrice Hunt, Natalie Buckley and Stella Young, and Allegra Schaedler and Ada LaConti also swept their doubles matches.

    In other matches:

    • Claire Fenaughty, Sarah Banach, Cassie Rice and Rachel Kluterman posted singles wins in a 6-1 win over Woodstock in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II match. Lia Day and Shelby Morrison combined to win in three sets in doubles for the Colonels (2-3, 2-0).

    • Stonington blanked Lyman Memorial 7-0 receiving singles wins from Grace Duggan, Marcella Hamm, Misha Lewandowski and Marina Lewandowski. The Bears improved to 5-0.

    • Sarah Hage and Michelle Liu won their singles matches without dropping a game in Waterford’s 7-0 win over Windham/Windham Tech. The Lancers climbed to 4-1.

    • Leeya Fabry won at No. 1 singles for NFA in a 5-2 loss to Killingly in Division II. Christall Ake and Cathleen Mai won at No. 3 doubles for the Wildcats (3-2, 0-1).

    H.S. boys’ tennis

    • Senior captains Leland Hines and Alis Bicic won their singles matches in three sets at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, to propel Old Lyme past Cromwell 5-2 in the Shoreline Conference. Micah Bass scored a win at No. 2 singles while James Dahlke and Foster Richardell and Dylan Paynter and Ryan Olsen won their doubles matches for the Wildcats (6-1, 6-1).

    • Andres Sardar, Evan Whitten and Charlie Gempp posted singles victories for Fitch in a 6-1 win over Montville. The Falcons are 3-3. Darren Chen won at No. 4 singles in three sets for the Wolves (6-2).

    • Waterford won every match in straight sets, beating Lyman Memorial 7-0. Christos Matsas, Ian Balfour, Quinn LeBelle and Colton Murch earned singles wins for the Lancers (5-1).

    • No. 1 singles player Jonathan Patton scored the only win for the Williams School in a 5-1 loss at Rocky Hill Country Day School.

    H.S. baseball

    • Garrison Biggs had two doubles and two RBI to help power East Lyme past Waterford 10-4 in Division I. Winning pitcher Dylan Joyce struck out seven, allowed four hits and three runs while Liam Cochrane added two hits and two RBI and Alex Dreyfus had three hits and two RBI for the Vikings (5-3, 4-1). Max Petrini and Zaydin Martinez both doubled in runs for the Lancers (6-3, 1-3).

    • Jerry Santiago had two hits for Grasso Tech in a 4-3 win over Windham Tech at Washington Park in Groton. Gabe Grossman, Reis Whitfield, Carmen Rodriguez and Jan Carlos de la Cruz-Nieves drove in runs for the Eagles (5-4). PJ Evans was the winning pitcher.

    • Giovanni Winters collected two hits and two RBI for Old Lyme in an 8-3 loss to East Hampton in the Shoreline Conference. Rowan Meisner and Aidan Carpentino each had two hits for the Wildcats (4-5, 4-4).

    • Brady Ericson pitched a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts and no walks in Woodstock Academy’s 3-0 victory Tuesday over Waterford in ECC Division I.

    College baseball

    • Coast Guard Academy scored seven runs in the fifth inning to rally from an early three-run deficit and beat Nichols College 21-12. Nathan Stafford (3-for-6, six RBI) and Kael Godshalk (3-for-4, six RBI) fueled a 19-hit attack, each belting a home run. John Tacchini chipped in three hits and two RBI for the Bears (20-8), who’ve won eight of their last nine and scored a season high for runs.

    • UConn scored a season-high 10 runs in the second inning on the way to a 14-3 blowout of Hofstra at Elliot Ballpark. Maddix Dalena had an RBI single and two-run home run in the outburst for the Huskies (22-18). Caleb Shpur extended his hitting streak to 14 straight with an RBI single.

    • Derrell Mitchell had four hits, including two home runs to power UConn Avery Point past Community College of Rhode Island, 16-6. Brandon Baker was the winning pitcher.

    College softball

    • Coast Guard Academy dropped a doubleheader to UMass Dartmouth by scores of 8-2 and 3-1. The Bears (9-16), who’ve dropped five of their last six, managed only seven hits in the two losses. Isabelle Shroyer had a single and double in the first game for the Bears while Lillia Farlow doubled and scored a run in game two.

    H.S. boys’ golf

    • Wheeler improved to 5-0 overall, 2-0 in Division IV, with a 7-0 win over Plainfield at Foster Country Club. Tyler Signor earned medalist honors with a 38 and Keiran Boscoe fired a 39 for the Lions, who finished with 160 strokes overall.

    • Medalist Tyler Moore shot a 39 to help lift East Lyme past Norwich Free Academy 5.5-1.5, in a Division I match at Norwich Golf Course. The Vikings (5-0, 2-0) posted a 172-177 margin the team medal point. Nick Wigfield led the Wildcats (3-1, 2-1) with a 40.

    • Griswold’s Gennaro Levado earned medalist honors with a 40 in a 176-203 win over Old Lyme at Black Hall Club. Cooper Wilson had a 43 for the Wolverines (3-0). Manu Geronimo led the Wildcats (0-6) with a 45.

    • Waterford’s Nichlolas Vincenti was the medalist with a 38, but Bacon Academy won the ECC Division II match 184-188 at Chanticlair Golf Course. John Ceruti had a 41 and Sawyer Nauss had a personal-best 47 for the Bobcats (1-1, 1-0). The Lancers fell to 1-1, 1-1.

    • On Tuesday, Jack Bucko was the medalist with a 38 and East Lyme defeated Fitch (6-1) and Old Saybrook (6-1) in a tri-match at Shennecossett. Max Weston added a 40 for the Vikings (4-0 overall, 1-0 ECC Division I) and Moore and Sebby DeCosta each carded a 41. Old Saybrook defeated Fitch 5-2. Fitch’s Matthew Casanas won his match against East Lyme and Cole Faulkner and Gianni Drab picked up wins for the Falcons against Old Saybrook.

    H.S. girls’ golf

    • Medalist Erin O’Farrell shot a 46 and Caroline Goderre had a 47 in NFA’s 202-230 win over East Lyme in an ECC match at Old Lyme Country Club. The Wildcats are 4-0, 3-0. Morgan Dube and Mia Williamson each had a 55 for the Vikings (3-2, 3-2).

    • Isabella Mawson was the medalist with a 53 in Woodstock’s 230-238 win over Bacon Academy in an ECC match at Quinnatisset Country Club. The Bobcats fell to 0-3, 0-3.

    • Adilyn Risley led Stonington with a 53 in Tuesday’s 219-234 loss to Killingly at Elmridge Golf Course. Killingly’s Sadie Murray was the medalist with a 43. Stonington is 0-2 overall, 0-2 in the ECC.

    H.S. volleyball

    • NFA improved to 10-1 overall with a sweep of Woodstock Academy. Game scores were 25-14, 25-15 and 25-19. Gage Hinkley had 12 kills and 13 digs while Tyler McDermott had nine kills and Bryan Contreras added 14 digs for the Wildcats.

    H.S. girls’ lacrosse

    • Wheeler lost to Morgan 12-5 on Tuesday. Grace Cassata and Sophia Gouveia had two goals each, Ellen Anderson scored a goal and Anna Barber had nine saves for the Lions (3-2).

    H.S. boys’ lacrosse

    • Tyler Gagliardi scored four goals and added two assists for Williams School in a 14-2 win over Marianapolis Prep. Henry Champagne had two goals and four assists and Brendan Li added two goals and two assists for the Blues (7-1).

    Men’s lacrosse

    • Weston Schumacher scored two goals and Xavier Haney added one for Mitchell College in a 16-3 loss to Dean College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. Keeano Gonzalez and Jon Parra-Tobey each added an assist for the Mariners (0-11, 0-10).

    • Aidan McAvoy had four goals and three assists for Connecticut College in a 19-13 loss to No. 12 ranked Wesleyan in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Liam Horkan, Isaiah Kozub and Bobby Chang each had two goals for the Camels (4-9, 1-9).

    Women’s lacrosse

    • Coast Guard Academy ended the regular season with a 19-2 win over Clark University in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference action. Caitlyn Coates led the Bears (12-4, 7-3) with six goals and an assist while Abby McAllister had one goal and eight assists and Addy Bass added four goals and Kira Howard had two goals and two assist.

    The Bears, who’ve won five straight, will host a conference tournament game on Saturday afternoon.
