    Living the ‘Dream’

Flock Theatre’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” features a puppet version of Bottom, when be becomes a donkey. In the background are Ian Hopkins (playing Lysander) and Sarah Paprocki (playing Hermia). (Submitted)

Things are getting — we hope — back to normal for Flock Theatre.

The group suffered through several canceled performances last year because of COVID.

But the summer is here, and fingers are crossed that all of Flock’s performances of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” go off as planned.

This year will also mark Flock’s return to the Connecticut College Arboretum in New London as part of its multi-town series of shows, which also brings the show to Wilcox Park in Westerly, the Mystic Seaport Museum and the town of Hampton.

Flock cleverly describes “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as “a fantastical comedy of a love rectangle, the bickering court of fairies, a donkey-headed fool, and more set in the forest of ancient Athens.”

Oh, and Flock will wrap up this summer with “Henry IV Part 2” July 27-30 and Aug. 3-6 at the Arboretum.

Both productions are directed by Derron Wood, executive artistic director of Flock Theatre.
