The largest Latinx dance organization in the country, the celebrated Ballet Hispánico, performs Friday at the Garde Arts Cetner.

The group is marking the 15th season for its artistic director and CEO, Eduardo Vilaro, with a tour of North America, among other events. Ballet Hispánico promises that its professional company will bring “the beauty of dance and awareness of Latinx culture” to its performances.

The group was founded in 1970 by Tina Ramirez and established a place for Latine dance and dancers that not only offered performance training but also taught about culture pride and the power of representation. Vilaro joined the company as a dancer in 1985 and then became artistic director in 2009.

Ballet Hispánico, 8 p.m. Friday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $35-$79; gardearts.org.
