Fans of musicals, listen up: It’s time for Goodspeed Musicals’ annual (and ever-popular) Festival of New Musicals.

This is the 18th (!) fest, and, as always, it offers up staged readings of a trio of shows, as well as seminars on theater topics, cabarets, and much more.

    The staged readings are:

Friday, 7 p.m.: “Photosynthesis,” in which a floral artist and Black female business owner deals with her resentment over making a living delivering joy to other people while she can’t keep any herself, with book, music and lyrics by Claudine Mboligikpelani Nako.

Saturday, 7:30 p.m.: “Letters to the President,” a musical featuring actual letters to presidents of the United States since the founding of the nation. The show is conceived by Michael Bello and Jessica Kahkoska.

Sunday, 1 p.m.: “The Snow Goose,” a tale of unlikely friendship between an outsider who has retreated from the world and a young girl while they rehabilitate an injured snow goose, with music by Claire McKenzie and book and lyrics by Scott Gilmour.

Festival of New Musicals, Goodspeed Musicals’ campus, East Haddam; single tickets are $30 for each staged reading, $15 each for students; there are also festival packages; (860) 873-8668, goodspeed.org.
