    State police respond to 133 accidents as Memorial Day weekend begins

    The Memorial Day weekend is just beginning but already Connecticut State Police have responded to 133 accidents, 26 of which had reported injuries, according to Lt. J. Paul Vance.

    As of noon Saturday, state police had issued 480 speeding tickets, 331 seat belt violations and 1,453 hazardous moving violations. Twenty one drivers have been arrested for driving under the influence.

    Vance says state police will continue the Memorial Day enforcement operation throughout the holiday weekend and asks that motorists report any suspected drunk driver to police for the public's safety.
