Worcester woman killed driving wrong way on highway

Sterling, Mass. — State police say a 39-year-old Worcester woman has died after hitting two other cars, one head-on, while driving the wrong way on Interstate 190 southbound.

Police said people in the two other cars have non-life-threatening injuries from the Saturday evening crash, though one person was seriously hurt.

The crash happened at about 7:40 p.m. when the wrong-way driver clipped a Chevrolet Trailblazer, then collided head-on with a Volvo station wagon.

Police said the Volvo driver was taken by helicopter to a Worcester hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The Chevrolet driver also was taken to a hospital.

The highway was closed for two hours while police investigated.
