Connecticut school bus driver charged with sexually assaulting student

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) — Police have arrested a Connecticut school bus driver on charges she allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old student who rode her bus.

Twenty-seven-year-old Wendy Valero of Middletown turned herself in Tuesday on a warrant charging her with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

Police say Valero was a driver for DATTCO when she met the boy who had rode her bus for about three years.

Authorities say she arranged to bring the boy to her home where she allegedly exposed herself to him and engaged in sexual activity in June.

DATTCO says they removed Valero from service when they learned of the investigation. It's unclear if Valero has an attorney who can comment on the charges.

She's due back in court July 19.
