Name of Springfield shooting victim released

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of the man who died this week after being shot earlier this month in Springfield.

Christopher Fonville, 28, died Monday night at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after being shot multiple times on March 16, the Hampden district attorney’s office told Masslive.com on Wednesday.

Isaiah Taylor, 22, was charged with murder in connection with Fonville’s slaying. He was arraigned via teleconference in Holyoke District Court on Wednesday and held without bail. It was unclear who represented him.

No information has been released about a potential motive for the fatal shooting.

Taylor also faces charges in connection with another non-fatal shooting on Tuesday. It's unclear if the shootings are connected. A second man was charged as an accessory in the later shooting.
