Man allegedly found with over 100 bags of fentanyl when he was arrested at Vernon gas station

A man was arrested in Vernon Thursday after state, local and federal authorities found him with more than 100 bags of suspected fentanyl and other drugs following a narcotics investigation.

Jarvis Chambers, 39, was taken into custody at the Valero gas station at 506 Talcottville Road, according to a statement issued by Manchester Police Department Lt. Richard Monge, who also serves on the East Central Narcotics Task Force.

Monge said task force members along with the DEA and the Vernon Police Department conducted an operation to serve Chambers with two arrest warrants and carry out two search warrants. When he arrived in a vehicle at the gas station, Monge said Chambers “briefly attempted to flee” and refused to get out of the car. He was eventually taken into custody and allegedly found with 118 bags of suspected fentanyl, about 10 grams of crack cocaine and 5.53 grams of fentanyl-laced marijuana, according to Monge.

Chambers was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell narcotics and a single count of operation of a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering/resisting. Those charges stemmed from the allegations at the gas station.

Monge said Chambers was also charged by warrant with possession of narcotics and sale of narcotics.

Chambers was held on bonds totaling $400,000, according to Monge.
