Waterford senior Ryan Bakken has been the lead-off hitter on a state champion baseball team and an All-State quarterback on a football team that made the state semifinals. By contrast, he was a practice player on last year's basketball team, cheering from the bench and keeping the water bottles full. This year, he was named one of the team's captains.
