Stonington police: Pawcatuck woman and her brother used headlock to force boy into her van

Stonington -- Police say a Pawcatuck woman and her brother used a headlock to put a 13-year-old boy in her minivan and drove him to the police station after he allegedly assaulted her son on Thursday.

Details of the arrest of Nicole L. Brayman, 37, of 511 Liberty St., Apt. 2, Pawcatuck, and Eric H. Hillebert, 35, of 38 Mechanic St., Apt. 1, Pawcatuck, were released Monday.

Both were charged with second-degree unlawful restraint and risk of injury to a minor. They were later released and are scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court Thursday. The boy was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace.

Police said they received a report of a child abducted on West Broad Street in downtown Pawcatuck by people in white minivan. As officers responded, police said the minivan pulled into the police station parking lot.

Brayman told police that her son had been involved in a fight with the 13-year-old boy and that she and her brother had located him at Evan’s Mobil on the corner of Liberty Street. They told police they led him to the van and then drove to the police station. But police said the boy and witnesses said Hillebert placed the boy in a headlock and placed in the van. They said Brayman dropped Hillebert off and then drove to the station at a high rate of speed. Police said Hillebert later came to the station and was charged.
