Brian Setzer Orchestra bring holiday show to Foxwoods

    Brian Selzer (Contributed)

Listen! Can you hear it outside? That November wind?

Oh, wait, that's not wind. That's Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom sighing — in relief. Yes, it appears that, next year, on their 40th anniversary, the original Stray Cats will release an album and tour. Sayeth the mostly-outta-sight-and-mind Lee and Slim Jim, "Thank you, Brian!"

And "Brian" would be Brian Sezter, the lead guitarist/vocalist/songwriter of the Stray Cats, who's had a sustained and successful post-Cats career leading his own Orchestra. In fact, the Brian Setzer Orchestra returns Friday to Foxwoods for the latest in their incredibly popular Christmas shows. It seems rockabilly translates quite well to holiday music — so much so that the 19-piece Setzer Orchestra has just released "Christmas Rocks! LIVE!" on Blu-Ray.

Expect Setzerian renditions of "Dig That Crazy Santa Claus" and "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus" as well as classics like "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and even "Stray Cat Strut" and "Rock This Town" — all of which should put you in the yule mood AND prime you for next year's Stray Cats tour.

"Christmas Rocks!," Brian Setzer Orchestra, 8 p.m. Friday, Grand Theater, Foxwoods; $25-$45; 1-800-200-2882.
