To beat or not to beat — that was the question for Brad Pitt the night he confronted Harvey Weinstein at the 1995 Broadway premiere of “Hamlet.”

It’s been more than 20 years, but Gwyneth Paltrow still remembers the rage-fueled words her then-boyfriend Pitt uttered to her sexual harasser Weinstein during the encounter.

“He told me exactly what he said. He said, ‘If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you,’ or something like that,” Paltrow told Howard Stern on Stern’s SiriusXM radio show. “It was great.”

Paltrow, 45, was among the first batch of women to publicly accuse Weinstein of sexual harassment or assault in a New York Times piece published in October.

In the same interview, she revealed that she’d run directly to Pitt after refusing Weinstein’s advances, and explained that he’d then confronted Weinstein, warning him to lay off.

The newly engaged Paltrow elaborated on the incident in her interview with Stern, and revealed that the Pitt-Weinstein face-off went down at the opening of the Ralph Fiennes-led production of “Hamlet” on Broadway in 1995.

“I told (Brad) right away and I was very shaken by the whole thing. I was afraid,” she recalled. “And Brad Pitt, we were at the opening of ‘Hamlet’ … and Harvey was there. It was like the equivalent of throwing him against the wall, energetically. It was so fantastic because what he did was he leveraged his fame and power to protect me at I time when I didn’t have fame or power yet. He’s the best … I love him for this.”

Paltrow and Pitt dated from 1994 to 1997, and were briefly engaged.

The Oscar-winning actress told Stern that while it now seems like a “no-brainer” to go public with her accusations against Weinstein, it wasn’t easy for her to relay the decades-old events to Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey.

“It was a really big decision (to talk about it). Looking back at it now, it’s much different, the landscape is completely changed. So now it seems like a no-brainer. But at the time, the floodgates hadn’t opened,” she said.

She said in October that she was 22 years old and had just signed on for the lead role in “Emma” when Weinstein lured her up to his Beverly Hills hotel suite and suggested they head to his bedroom for massages.

The actress added that, after Pitt’s confrontation, Weinstein grew irate that she hadn’t kept quiet about the encounter, and “screamed” at her to the point where she thought she’d be fired from “Emma.”

Paltrow wasn’t fired, and she eventually won an Oscar in 1999 for “Shakespeare in Love,” a Miramax-backed film, even thanking Weinstein in her acceptance speech.
