Niantic Light Parade marks 30th year
This year is the Niantic Light Parade’s 30th anniversary, and longtime fans know just how much this event — and its floats — have developed over the decades.
Certainly, the number of participants and viewers has grown. But the most impressive thing is how the light-bedecked creations have become more elaborate, more ingenious and more eye-popping over time. I mean, did you see that “Frozen”-inspired float a few years back?
Will everyone up their game for this anniversary year? Find out when the parade trundles down Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on Saturday night.
Before the streets of Niantic are illuminated by the parade, the skies over the village will be sparking with a 6 p.m. fireworks show.
A note in case of inclement weather: the rain date is 5 p.m. Sunday.
