Rap star Ice Cube entertains Friday at the Sun

    Ice Cube (Amy Harris, Invision/AP)

There's probably an entire segment of society that has no idea that film/TV star Ice Cube was famous as a solo rapper and a founding member of the game-changing, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers NWA.

There's also probably a entire segment of hip hop fans that collectively scratch their heads and wonder why Ice Cube made a film called "Fist Fight."

Maybe the best way to regard the Cube's multi-faceted career is A) just acknowledge his diverse talents and B) don't show up Friday in the Mohegan Sun expecting the artist to lead a staged reading of his deleted scenes from "Barbershop 2." Because this concert will be all about the rap — and the set list will probably include the archival NWA material as well hits from his 10-times-platinum solo career and even newer tunes like "Arrest the President."

Ice Cube, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $35-$45; 1-800-745-3000.
