Dave Attell performs Saturday at Foxwoods

At the top of a press release for an upcoming tour by comedian Dave Attell is the fact that the funnyman appeared in heavyweight dramas "Pootie Tang," "Scary Movie 4" and "Los Enchiladas." What you may not recall is that Attell's co-stars in those movies were, respectively, Sir Mark Rylance, Dame Maggie Smith and William Hurt.

As far as we know, Attell will be sans thespian pals Saturday when he brings his standup act to the Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods. That's OK. He is, after all, principally a comic. As such, the punchlines should be sharp, crude and rapid-fire. Still, as per anyone who's seen "Los Enchiladas" knows, a bit of eloquent gravitas is never far away with Attell.

Laugh a LOT Saturday, but also don't be surprised if the comic tosses in Walter Lee Younger's "Hand you the world" speech from "Raisin in the Sun." Then, cry like a baby as you pass the merch table on your way out.

Dave Attell, 8 p.m. Saturday, Great Cedar Showroom, Foxwoods; $40;
