    H.S. lacrosse: Jordan's five goals lift Fitch boys over Woodstock

    Groton — Devyn Jordan scored five times for the Fitch High School boys' lacrosse team Tuesday in a 12-9 win over Woodstock Academy in Division I of the Eastern Connecticut Conference.

    Evan Salen added three goals and an assist for Fitch (2-0, 2-0), Ty Peters had two goals, Evan Hicks made 14 saves in the victory and Shawn Beebe picked up nine ground balls.

    Geurin Favreau finished with five goals for Woodstock (2-2, 0-2).

    • Nick Cox and Macklin Cushman each had four goals and an assist in Old Lyme's 10-9 victory over Valley Regional in the Shoreline Conference. Old Lyme trailed 6-3 at halftime and 8-6 after three quarters but outscored Valley 4-1 in the fourth quarter. Sam Mullaney also scored twice for Old Lyme (1-2, 1-0) and Joseph Montazella had six saves in goal.

    Girls

    • Sarah Newton had five goals and an assist as Bacon Academy opened its season with a 17-4 victory over Woodstock Academy. Skyler Gustavson added three goals and three assists for Bacon, while Joely Stella had three goals and Maddox Burton two.

    • Emily Mesham scored five times for Old Lyme, which edged Valley Regional 14-13 in the Shoreline Conference. Ella Curtis-Reardon finished with three goals and an assist for Old Lyme (1-2, 1-0), Sydney Goulding and Grace Arnold each had two goals and Avra Montazella made eight saves in goal. 

    • Lily Tomczik had six goals for Montville in 9-8 victory over Waterford, giving first-year Montville coach Nicole McComic her first career victory. Lindsey Beaven had two goals, Reagan Buscetto one and Madelyn Horkey 14 saves for Montville (1-0). Emily Gates scored four times for Waterford (0-3).

    • Dylan Park and Dani Bruno scored four goals each in East Lyme's 21-1 victory over Ledyard. Nancy Alden added three goals and two assists for East Lyme (3-0) and Sydney Sager and Abbie Belleville each had two goals. Maddie McLeod scored for Ledyard (2-1).
