Checking in with Liz: "To my all of my coaches, thank you for getting me where I am today. Without you, I wouldn’t be the same tennis player and person you see now. Most importantly, thank you to my mom/coach (Laurie Zrenda). Thank you for teaching me that if I want something, I should go out and get it. Thank you for sharing this amazing sport with me and teaching me everything there is to know about it. I am forever grateful for you."

What you need to know about Liz: Beaulieu, whose mom, Zrenda, is East Lyme's head coach, reached the Eastern Connecticut Conference doubles final last year with partner Emily Zhu. The pair earned All-ECC Division I honors. Beaulieu was then slated to play singles this season and trained at the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., during the fall semester to work on her game. "I was looking forward to seeing how much I improved from last season," she said. "At IMG Academy, I worked mostly on stamina. Because it was so hot there, I had to get used to running and playing in the hot weather. I think I also got better at consistency and playing better against harder opponents." Beaulieu called reaching the ECC final with Zhu the best moment of her high school career. "Emily and I had great chemistry on and off the court," Beaulieu said. "We became really good friends, which helped us on the court with communication. I'd say I was best at ending points at the net and she was best at staying consistent and fully committing to every point." Beaulieu has been playing tennis since she was 7 or 8 and "loved" having her mom as the high school coach. She is part of East Lyme's drama club and her favorite restaurant in town is Family Pizza in Niantic (she recommends the mozzarella sticks). "To my tennis team, you have been a huge part of my life for four years and I would have loved to see what we could have done this year. I wish you all good luck next year and you know I’ll be there cheering you on," Beaulieu said. "Shout-out to my fellow captains Sophia Rogers and Becca Pagioli."
