Wolfebrook property a great gift to Groton

Kudoes to the town of Groton — both the Town Council and the staff — for purchasing the 161-acre Wolfebrook property on the Noank-Ledyard Road as protected open space. (“Groton announces purchase of Wolfebrook property,” Dec. 22)

As partners in raising the funds to purchase the property, Groton Conservation Advocates greatly appreciates the town’s vision in purchasing this property. Its mature forest will be a buffer against climate change as well as home to many forest birds, and its many wetlands and ponds make it extremely valuable for declining species of amphibians. We look forward to helping establish a system of trails on the property for the public’s enjoyment forever. What a gift to Groton!
