Changes coming to our website Wednesday

We're making some changes that will help our readers have a better experience on our website.

What does this mean for you in the near future?

    Two things.

On Wednesday, subscribers who access theday.com will be asked to reset their passwords.

You should receive an email from our marketing department that day with instructions. If you don't receive an email from the marketing department, we may have an incorrect email address on file. Give our customer service department a call so so we can look up your account, update your email address and send you the instructions you need. You can reach Customer Service Manager Peter Ingoglia at (860) 701-4274 or Customer Service Representative Kelly Fantacci at (860) 701-4423.

Once you reset your password, you should be able to navigate our content as usual. If you have problems, give us a call and we'll walk you through the process.

The second item pertains to online commenters and those of you who love to read the comments. We'll be changing over to an entirely new content management system that doesn't import the old comments. That means that beginning some time Wednesday afternoon, you'll no longer have access to the old comments on stories.

All your old comments are going away, and you'll have a fresh slate. Our commenting policy isn't changing.

That's all you need to know to continue accessing our digital content.

We're continuing to work on a redesign of our website, a project we we first told you about in January. We've made some decisions about how we'll be presenting the news, but decided to wait until these other updates are complete.

This is the opinion of Karen Florin, The Day's engagement editor. Reach her at k.florin@theday.com or (860) 701-4217.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
