Annual Niantic Jingle Bell 5K Run is set for Dec. 10
East Lyme — The 3rd annual Niantic Jingle Bell 5K Run is set for 10 a.m. Dec. 10 at McCook Point Park in Niantic.
Registration will open at 8:45 a.m. and prizes will be awarded for top finishers and best costume.
The net proceeds from the event will benefit the Brian T. Dagle Memorial Foundation Inc.
The mission of the foundation is to promote hope and healing for people who are grieving the loss of someone special or struggling with the challenges of life, by providing support services, education and resources to nurture both their physical and emotional needs in southeastern Connecticut. In addition to grief support, the foundation works to educate people on suicide prevention and promote awareness of suicide risk factors and warning signs.
Last year’s run attracted more than 750 walkers and runners and raised more than $20,000.
The Brian T. Dagle Memorial Foundation was created by Ann Irr Dagle and her family in honor of their son Brian, who died by suicide in 2011. Funds raised by the foundation will help with efforts to open a Healing Center for Loss.
