    Norwich groups plan vigil Tuesday in wake of Charlottesville violence

    Norwich – A community gathering will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday in the City Hall plaza in response to the white supremacist rally and violence on Aug. 12 in Charlottesville, Va.

    The event, called “A Community Gathering for Unity, Clarity and Dispelling Darkness” is open to the public and will be held in the David Ruggles Freedom Courtyard in City Hall plaza, 100 Broadway, Norwich. The program is designed to show unity in the diverse community and to promote nonviolence, organizers said in the press release announcing the event.

    The event is cosponsored by the Norwich Area Clergy Association, the Norwich branch of the NAACP, Norwich Indivisible, the Bully Busters, 4-H Home School, Sankofa Education & Leadership and the Sikh Sewak Society International, USA.
