Make a Difference: Riverfront Children's Center

WHO: A single mother of two daughters ages 4 and 7.

AGENCY: Riverfront Children's Center in Groton.

THEIR SITUATION: This mother, besides having to raise two young daughters, works 30 hours per week for minimum wage while her daughters are in school. She does not have a car and takes the bus to bring her children to school and another to go to work. Her rent recently was raised and, because she is working, her rent subsidy was decreased. Her microwave recently broke and she has no pans and utensils to cook on a stove.

WHAT TO GIVE: She can use help with rent, bus passes and gift cards to Aldi, Stop & Shop and Walmart.

WHERE TO DONATE: Send/bring checks, gift cards and gifts to Riverfront Children's Center, 476 Thames St., Groton. Call (860) 445-8151.
