Norwich Youth and Family merges with Recreation Services

Helen Keller once said, “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” This thought was one of the reasons behind the merging of Norwich Youth and Family, and the Recreation Division of Norwich Human Services.

Youth and Family Services has shared a space with Recreation at 75 Mohegan Road for several years. They were separate from one another, even though they both shared a common goal: to improve the overall health and well-being of Norwich residents.

Now that the two organizations have merged, residents can expect to see better coordination of programming and an increase in events and services offered to the community, according to a press release from the newly formed Youth, Family & Recreation Division.

The division recently completed the Winter 2023 Program Book and is excited to offer new programs and opportunities for all. “It has been a great experience merging our teams,” said Erin Haggan, the manager of the division. “We are excited to offer more extensive programming, adding activities such as, art, hooping, financial literacy, and more.”

Residents can learn more about what is being offered and register for classes on the city website, under the Recreation page. Additionally, they can inquire by calling (860) 823-3791.
