    Local roundup: Ledyard softball beats Bacon for seventh straight win

    Colchester — Ledyard won its seventh straight game and completed a perfect Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II softball season with an 8-3 win over Bacon Academy on Friday.

    Winning pitcher Aaliyah Amidon struck out 10 for the Colonels (13-5, 8-0) while Sam Money and Caylee Cliett each had two hits and two RBI while Layla Lasisomphone was 2-for-3.

    Bacon is 2-15, 1-7. 

    In other games: 

    • Cayla Beverly scattered four hits as Stonington edged East Lyme 2-0. Cami Brown led off the game with a triple and scored the only run the Bears (11-3) would need on an infield out. Maddie Stepski had two doubles and Madi Allard two singles for Stonington, while Avery Statler had a double for the Vikings (8-7).

    • Emma Bayor pitched a two-hitter with no walks and 12 strikeouts as Old Lyme beat Old Saybrook 15-0 in a five-inning Shoreline Conference game. Ava Roth hit a three-run homer for the Wildcats (13-4, 11-4) and scored two runs while Jamie Bucior had a double, three RBI and two runs.

    • Woodstock Academy scored five runs in the eighth inning to defeat St. Bernard 10-5. Mihoura Francious was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to lead the Saints (12-4) while Kaitlyn Scribner was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run and Arianna Guinassi was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

    • Shorthanded New London lost a non-conference game at Ellis Tech, 24-12. The Whalers (1-13) were missing three key starters, but Gabriela Santiago had a single, double and scored a run, Jadelis Garrett had two hits, three RBI and a run and Lynaisha Quinones had a hit and drove in three runs.

    • Morgan Cook and Khai Maldonado had huge offensive days in Norwich Tech's 23-13 Connecticut Technical Conference win over Windham Tech. Cook had four hits, including two doubles, a triple and home run, while scoring five runs and driving in seven, and Maldonado had four hits, including a double, home run, eight RBI and three runs for the Warriors (10-2). Caity Flynn finished with three hits and six runs scored (she also tripled), while Autumn Hanks and Emily Grant each had a single and triple.

    • Sophia Gannoe was 3-for-4 with a triple and scored twice as East Lyme beat NFA 6-5 in an ECC Division I game on Thursday. Abby Robinson had two hits for East Lyme (8-6, 2-3). Hannah Daniewicz had two hits and stole two bases and Madison Waltke was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI for NFA (9-7, 1-5).

    H.S. girls' lacrosse

    • Lily Cody had six goals and two assists to lead Old Saybrook to a 12-10 win over Old Lyme in the Shoreline Conference. Emily Mesham scored four goals for the Wildcats (3-11, 2-8) while Caroline Crolius scored three times, Sydney Goulding had one goal and one assist, Ella Curtiss Reardon had two assists and goalie Kyle Dishaw made 18 saves.

    H.S. boys' golf

    • Pat Flanagan shot a 42 as Old Lyme edged Cromwell 187-188 in a Shoreline Conference match at Black Hall Club. Alex Chrysoulakis added a 45 and Andrew Hedberg a 46 for the Wildcats (4-7, 4-7).

    • Stonington won the team medal point 180-184 and that was the difference in a 4.5-2.5 win over Fitch at Elmridge Golf Course. The Bears (7-6) also beat Wheeler 6.5-.5. Jack Kramer (40) and Nate McCormick (41) shot the two lowest rounds of the day to lead Fitch (4-6) while Brandon Tavares and Cam O'Connor each shot 42 for Stonington and Gavin Arruda led the Lions (6-4) with a 48.

    • Montville picked up a pair of wins, beating Valley Regional 6-5.0-5 in a nonleague match and Plainfield 7-0 in a ECC Division III match on Thursday. Morgun Whittaker of Montville (10-1, 3-0) was the medalist with a 39. Also winning matches against Plainfield were Cameron DeCecco, Grant Kortfelt, Tyler Radford and Liam Cook. 

    H.S. volleyball

    • Wolcott Tech rolled to a 25-8 25-9 and 25-15 win over Norwich Tech. Tanzin Samten had 10 digs for the Warriors (2-11).

    H.S. boys' lacrosse

    • Norwich Tech/Windham Tech pulled out a dramatic 8-7 overtime win over Montville, getting the tying goal by Josh Lodyko with 10 seconds remaining in regulation and winning it on a goal by Dylan Relaz in OT. Demetri Ryan finished with four goals and three assists for the Warriors (6-7) while Relaz had three goals and two assists. Montville is 1-12.

    • Jackson Huta had four goals and an assist as Waterford beat NFA 10-8 in an ECC Division I game on Thursday night. CJ Landry had three goals and an assist, John Zimmermann scored twice, Trevor Stringer had a goal and Jake Kozlowski made 10 saves for Waterford (10-3, 5-1). Logan Jenkins had three goals and an assist, Anthony Ballestrini had two goals and an assist, Sam Sweeney made 10 saves, Nolan Brown scored twice, Quinn Perkins had a goal and Tommy Brunelli has an assist for NFA (7-6, 2-5).

    H.S. baseball

    • Bradin Anderson was 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI as Wheeler beat Putnam 10-1 in an ECC Division IV game at Dodd Stadium on Thursday night. Kyle Kessler doubled and drove in two runs and Sean Bergel was 2-for-3 and scored three runs for the Lions (6-8, 3-4).

    • Winning pitcher A.J. Hamel struck out five and allowed only one earned run over four innings as Griswold beat Windham 13-6 in an ECC Division III game on Thursday. Evan Gilgbenbach and Nolan Webster each tripled for the Wolverines (6-11, 3-4) while Sean Garvin and Nic Comfort added doubles. 

    H.S. boys' track

    • Gabriel Huff (1,600, 3,200) and Christian Wiltshire (high jump, triple jump) won two individual events apiece during Ledyard's 104-37 win over New London on Wednesday. Jackson Poulton (javelin), James Green (long jump) and Jacob Lenz (100) won individual events for the Colonels and were part of the winning 4x400 relay team.
