The Killers play Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday

If Las Vegas act The Killers were, as critics said, New Wave revivalists in 2002 when they first hit Fame, then quickly embraced post-Mellencamp meat 'n' potatoes rock after their second album, and since then have bounced back and forth between the two — well, what are they all these years later?

I guess they're middle-aged musicians whose popularity has stayed relatively steady over the course of four studio albums. How is it possible to maintain the fan base over such an admittedly sparse output? Good tunes. They have no shortage of hits that have a timeless and anthemic quality — plus eternally boyish frontman Brandon Flowers must have early on ingested more than his share of Official Jon Bon Jovi Charisma Vitamins.

The Killers bring a world-class, state-of-technology stage show to Mohegan Sun Arena Thursday, and 10,000 fans will delight in shaking the building's foundation by singing along with every chorus.

The Killers, 8 p.m. Thursday, Mohegan Sun Arena; Bombay Heavy opens; $54.50, $70; 1-888-664-3426.
