    Michael Philip Abt, 50, Formerly of Guilford

    Michael Philip Abt, 50, formerly of Guilford, died unexpectedly Aug. 4 at his home in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. He was born March 11, 1963 to Richard Barton Abt, Sr., of Woodbridge,Virginia and Marlene C. Abt of Guilford.

    Mike was raised in Guilford, and a graduate of Guilford High School, where he was an accomplished track and soccer athlete. He earned a degree in engineering from Boston University, and was employed as a software engineer by BA Insight in Boston.

    Mike was an Audubon Society bird aficionado, outdoorsman, fisherman, and animal advocate. His expert wood working talents were honored by his membership in the Newburyport Art & Cultural Committee in Massachusetts, and his brothership in the Loyal Moose Lodge # 1511 was a source of friendship and contribution to his community. Mike will be lovingly missed and fondly remembered.

    In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers Richard B. Abt, Jr., of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, and Dr. John L. Abt of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his sisters Denise M. Abt of Tampa, Florida, and Renee M. Abt of Woodbridge, Virginia; his nieces and nephews Cameron Abt, Nicholas Abt, Devon Abt, Corinne Abt, Brittany Abt-Perez, and Robert Hannold; and his life-long partner Tricia Laorenza.

    A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 12 at 11:30 a.m. in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford, followed by burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Derby Ave, West Haven. Friends may call Sunday, Aug. 11 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford.
