Bank robbery reported in Westerly

Westerly police investigate outside McQuade's Marketplace in Westerly after the Washington Trust located inside the grocery facility was robbed, during the late morning Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013.

Westerly — Police are investigating the robbery of The Washington Trust located in McQuade's Marketplace on Main Street.

Police said the robbery occurred at 10:45 a.m. The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, with dark hair and a beard or goatee. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and carrying a backpack.

Police said he left with an undisclosed amount of money. No weapon was shown.
