    Woman pulled from pool at Ocean Beach Park in critical condition

    New London — A woman, described as approximately 18 years old, is in critical condition Wednesday night after Ocean Beach Park lifeguards pulled her from the water after finding her unresponsive near the deep end of the park's pool, according to New London police.

    About 4:41 p.m., New London patrol officers assigned to Ocean Beach Park responded to a call for assistance from lifeguards at the pool area.

    The lifeguards had observed a female in the water who had become unresponsive, police said. Lifeguards then pulled her from the water and, with assistance from New London police officers, began administering CPR. 

    The woman was transported by New London Fire Department personnel and Lawrence + Memorial Hospital paramedics to L + M Hospital, where the woman currently is in critical condition.

    Police said the woman's name is being withheld at this time.
