Waterbury man with three pending forgery cases charged again in Mashantucket
Mashantucket — A Waterbury man who was charged with first-degree forgery on three occasions this year again was charged with the felony on Thursday, according to police.
Angel Vasquez Jr., 26, of Waterbury, was charged on a warrant Thursday with six counts of first-degree forgery and six counts of sixth-degree larceny for allegedly passing counterfeit $100 bills at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Police said they had been looking into the incident since May and obtained a warrant in October before arresting Vasquez Thursday.
According to state Judicial Branch records, Vasquez has three pending cases from this year relating to forgery: one out of Stamford, one out of Berlin and one from the Mohegan Tribal Police.
On May 30, The Day archives show, Mohegan Tribal Police charged Vasquez on a warrant with 41 counts of first-degree forgery for allegedly passing as many bogus $100 bills at Mohegan Sun. He was freed on a $100,000 bond.
A day later, the Stamford Daily Voice reported, Vasquez allegedly purchased a $3,900 2007 Volkswagen Passat from a Stamford man using 39 fake $100 bills.
Stamford police said Vasquez learned there was a warrant for his arrest and turned himself in July 13. They charged him then with 39 counts of first-degree forgery and one count of third-degree larceny.
According to court records, Berlin police on Sept. 8 charged Vasquez with two counts of first-degree forgery and two counts of third-degree larceny. Details about that incident were not immediately available.
