New London — The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled Saturday’s fatal shooting on Orchard Street a homicide.

Reached by phone Wednesday, an official there said the manner of Quvonte Andre Gray’s death was homicide. The cause was a gunshot wound to the head.

According to police, officers went to 4 Orchard St. at 3:13 p.m. and found the 21-year-old with a gunshot wound to the head. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police described Gray as a Florida resident who often stayed in the city “for extended periods of time.”

They are looking to question an 18-year-old named Jamir Johnson in relation to the incident.
