North Stonington — At 11:52 a.m. on Aug. 8, shortly before allegedly smashing the windows of two vehicles, Morgan Dean took to Facebook and, according to an arrest warrant affidavit, wrote: "People. There is nothing I won't do to hurt you if you betray my friendship. I will sink to the depths of depravity. I will hurt everyone you love over it."

He continued on, "I will go to prison, I will lose my family. I will get you in the middle of a church house. I don't care. If anyone thinks they can hold anything over my head they are mistaken. I will burn my world to the ground BY MY OWN HAND and like a forest fire cleansing the woods, I will spring forth with a single green pedal and rise up to bury you in your own blood. I'm coming."

Morgan Dean, of 72G Stillman Road, turned himself in to state police at Troop E on Tuesday on an outstanding arrest warrant, police said in an incident summary.

Police charged him with first-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and first-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. He pleaded not guilty, court records show, and will next appear in court on Dec. 18.

The 40-year-old North Stonington resident has been in the news before for allegedly harassing the moderator of the Stonington Community Forum on Facebook with sexually graphic and racist language, and for getting into a brawl with town highway employees in 2016 while working as a landscaper.

A man reported to police on Aug. 8 that Dean showed up at the farm at 39 East Clarks Falls Road earlier that day and broke the windows of his car, state police Trooper Charles R. Workman said in an affidavit.

The man told police he reported the incident, went to play golf with a friend to relax, and returned to find the windows broken on his friend's truck, after which he contacted police again on her behalf.

The man told police that he, his friend, and Dean were friends but then Dean "started to assault them, damage their property and kill their animals," the affidavit reads.

Workman observed that the damage to the woman's truck included a broken rear window, driver windows and windshield. He wrote in the affidavit that surveillance video showed Dean swinging a bat with a metallic ball attached to it against the woman's truck.

The friend told police in a written statement that she had not previously had any problems with Dean but she wanted to press charges. She wrote, "I am a single mom and my landscaping business is dependent on the truck and now I will be unable to work because of the damage he did." She estimated the damage at $942.35.

The owner of the property where the vehicles were smashed told police he wanted to press charges, as well, because Dean has repeatedly come onto his property without permission and destroyed things on the property, the affidavit says.

Workman was provided with screenshots of Dean's Facebook page, and then he contacted Dean about the incident. The affidavit states that Dean said he had no knowledge of the incident.
