The 2021 Travelers Championship generated $2.2 million toward more than 125 local charities — including its primary beneficiary, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp — the tournament announced Tuesday.

It is an increase over the $1.6 million generated from the 2020 tournament, which didn't have spectators at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2019 tournament generated more than $2.1 million.

All told, the Travelers Championship said in its release that it has generated more than $22.5 million since taking over title sponsorship with the 2007 tournament.

"We're committed to making the Travelers Championship better every year, because the more successful it is, the more money we are able to generate for local charities," Andy Bessette, the executive vice president and chief administrative officer, said in the release. "This summer's tournament was tremendous on so many levels. We welcomed back many of our enthusiastic fans, we had a fantastic player field with several of the biggest names in the sport and there was a historic playoff (tournament-record eight holes, won by Harris English). To top it all off, we reached over $2 million for charity."

The 2022 Travelers Championship will be held June 23-26.
