Staging ‘The 12’ at Goodspeed
The next musical onstage at The Goodspeed is written by Pulitzer- and Tony-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan and has music by Neil Berg, whose other musicals include “The Prince and the Pauper” and “Grumpy Old Men.”
The duo co-wrote the lyrics for this piece about the disciples’ lives and struggles after Jesus’ death. A Goodspeed statement said the show “is a universal story of love and how each of us must eventually navigate the loss of whatever we hold most dear.”
Schenkkan’s career includes winning a Pulitzer for “The Kentucky Cycle” and a Tony for “All the Way.”
Directing the Goodspeed production is John Doyle, whose Broadway credits are led by revivals of “Sweeney Todd,” “Company” and “The Color Purple.”
