Sam Sherwood plays Carl Perkins in “Million Dollar Quartet Christmas” at Ivoryton Playhouse.

The musical “Million Dollar Quartet” was such a success that it of course spawned a sequel. In this case, it’s the holiday-themed “Million Dollar Quartet Christmas,” which opens Thursday at the Ivoryton Playhouse.

The show’s main characters are four icons: Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash. In this jukebox musical written by Colin Escott, they all belt out holiday songs, from “Blue Christmas” to “Go Tell It on the Mountain” to “Jingle Bell Rock.”

The cast, directed by Katie Barton, features Sam Sherwood as Carl Perkins, JP Coletta as Jerry Lee Lewis, Scott Moreau as Johnny Cash, and Daniel Durston as Elvis Presley.

If Durston’s name sounds familiar, that’s because he was part of “Big Brother 24.”

“Million Dollar Quartet Christmas,” Ivoryton Playhouse, 103 Main St., Ivoryton; opens Thursday and runs through Dec. 17; showtimes 2 and 7:30 p.m. Wed., 7:30 p.m. Thurs., 8 p.m. Fri. and Sat., and 2 p.m. Sun.; tickets are $60 for adults; $55 for seniors; $25 for students and children; (860) 767-7318, www.ivorytonplayhouse.org
