Bowzer returns with a new doo-wop party

The latest Bowzer's Rock 'n' Doo-Wop Party is Volume XVI. For those of us who aren't Roman-numeral fluent, that's 16. I think.

In any case, what that means is that these shows draw such significant audiences that there has been a call for 15 follow-ups to the original doo-wop party. The current party comes to Mohegan Sun Arena for a Sunday afternoon performance.

While the concert does, naturally, boast some acts that date back to the 1950s-60s era, it also showcases someone named Kid Kyle, who is a 21-year-old doo-wop singer.

So you have that young whippersnapper on the bill with familiar acts like Jay Siegel's Tokens ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight"), The Flamingos ("I Only Have Eyes For You"), Lou Christie ("Lightning Strikes") and Jay Black ("This Magic Moment"). Bowzer hosts and performs with The Stingrays.

    Bowzer's Rock 'n' Doo-Wop Party Volume XVI, 3 p.m. Sunday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $25, $35; 1-800-745-3000.
