Days on the beach aren’t finished quite yet, especially considering that the 8th annual Miquamicut Fallfest is set to return to the Rhode Island coastline this weekend. The event will offer three days of fun and frolic, both on the sand and right next to it, with live music, carnival rides and all those fun carnival games.

Hosted by The Misquamicut Business Association and Town of Westerly, the fest will also promise 400 feet of food trucks, a stilt-walking fire juggler, karate demos, climbing walls, and a lot of live music.

On Friday night, expect to see musicians and bands such as Jim Halloran, David Tessier’s Band of All-Star Stars and Never Enuff. And on Saturday, there are nine acts set to take the main stage throughout the day.

The biggest highlight from that schedule may be the Atlanta Rhythm Section (actually hailing from nearby Doraville, Georgia), whose members came together in 1970 after working on a Roy Orbison recording session.

Keyboardist Dean Daughtry and drummer Robert Nix had been members of Orbison's backing group, the Candymen, and Daughtry and guitarist J.R. Cobb had been members of the Top 40 hitmakers Classics IV (“Spooky,” “Stormy,” “Traces”). Expect tunes reminiscent of those glory days like "Alien" and "Not Gonna Let it Bother Me Tonight." They’re set to perform 9 p.m. Saturday.

Misquamicut Fallfest, 5-11 p.m. Fri., 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sat., and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun., Misquamicut State Beach, Westerly; admission $8, free for kids 4 and under; parking is free; misquamicutfestival.org.
