Set aside the petty and partisan games

It has been brought to our attention that our Republican opponents have taken to social media accusing one of our Democratic council candidates, Joe Zeppieri, of being afraid to talk to residents because he chooses to leave literature at homes as opposed to knocking on their door. "Literature drops" are standard practice by both parties during an election.

However, in an approach that we have seen from our local opponents before, trumped-up accusations are made without regard for facts, fairness or decency.

Joe is a senior and faces physical limitations. Stairs and driveways give him trouble, so he's figured out his own way to get his information to voters. We are 100 percent supportive of his choice to continue to participate in local politics and not allow his physical limitations to hinder his love for this community and desire to serve all the residents of our town. Joe is an integral and vital member of our team and a dear and personal friend.

We call on our opponents to set aside these petty, partisan games and stick to the local issues that matter to our community. Groton voters deserve better and Groton Democrats stand with Joe!

    Conrad F. Heede

    Chair, Groton Democratic Town Committee
