Man treated Sunday in New London for suspected opioid overdose

New London — A 25-year-old man from Groton was treated Sunday afternoon for a suspected opioid overdose in the restroom of a Bank Street restaurant, according to New London Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard.

When firefighters arrived around 4:20 p.m. to the Jasmine Thai restaurant, the man was unresponsive and was not breathing, said New London Fire Department Battalion Chief Edward Sargent.

New London firefighters administered Narcan and the individual began breathing on his own within a minute, said Sargent.

The man was awake and talking when transported by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, he said.

L+M paramedics and New London Police also responded to the scene.
