CG Academy Cadets stage ‘Beauty and the Beast’

    Be their guest.

U.S. Coast Guard First-Class Cadet Hannah Bliss is playing Belle.

Yes, we’re talking about the musical “Beauty and the Beast,” and the Coast Guard Academy’s Cadet Music Department and Cadet Performers will stage the piece this weekend.

Third-Class Cadet Billy Nunn, left, plays Gaston, and First-Class Cadet Hannah Bliss is playing Belle in a Coast Guard production of “Beauty and the Beast.”

It will mark the first time since the pandemic began that the cadets will be performing for a full, as opposed to very limited, audience.

The show is the work of the cadets, faculty and theater fans. The academy is offering free admission for the community, as well as a pre-show event for kids where they can take photos with Belle, Beast and other characters.

“Beauty and the Beast,” 7 p.m. Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun., Leamy Hall Auditorium, Coast Guard Academy, 31 Mohegan Ave., New London; free, but pre-registration is encouraged at www.cgaalumni.org/musical.
