    Patricia A. Hurley, Coley, 86, Clinton

    Patricia A. Hurley, Coley, 86, the wife of James E. Coley 3rd of Clinton, died Feb. 23 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a long illness. Born in Dobbs Ferry, New York, Patricia was the daughter of the late Roy T. Hurley and Ruth A. Hurley and previously resided in Westport before settling in Clinton. She was a graduate of Bedford Jr. High and Staples High School of Westport, attended Simmons College of Boston Mass. and Columbia University of NYC, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and mathematics. She was a long time member (1941-1970) of the Cedar Point Yacht Club of Westport as treasurer, manager of junior sailing, served on the race protest committee and taught sailing. She was an active member of the Hamburg Cove Yacht Club of Lyme since 1977. She also was an active member of the United States Power Squadrons, joining in 1972, she obtained a full certificate and went on to teach Celestial Navigation to members for some 20 years, receiving the squadrons Charles F. Chapman award for excellence in teaching in 1988. In addition to her family she enjoyed a lifelong passion for sail racing, sailing and cruising Long Island Sound with her husband and children. She will be most remembered as a fierce sail race competitor, devout teacher and home maker. In addition to her husband James she is survived, and will be dearly missed by: four sons Andrew F. of Westbrook, CT., Thomas P., wife Bonnie and grandchildren Melissa & Heather of Clinton, CT., Michael J. of Clinton, CT. and Christopher J., wife Holly and grandchildren Trevor & Patrick of Old Saybrook, CT., a Sister in- law Nancy R. of Westport, CT. and a Cousin Jean McConville of Maryland.

    Funeral services will begin, with calling hours at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton, CT. 06413 on Sat. March 1st from 11:30 AM thru. 1:30 PM followed by a Service of Remembrance from 1:30 to 2:00 PM in the Swan Funeral Home Chapel. A reception is to follow at the Westbrook Elks Lodge, 142 Seaside Ave., Westbrook, CT. 06498 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Burial at sea will be scheduled at a later date (summer, 2014) in Westport Connecticut.

    In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford CT 06413 or the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10065.
